Judge Dredd Day 2.

To start off with, I have sketched out a couple of my ideas of possible designs for my front cover.

I’m focusing on women at the moment because I feel that Judge Dredd has never been provoked with a female villan. I also find it much easier and enjoyable drawing a female, whereas Judge Dredd is very involved and complicated. By using a female figure in my work, I feel that it will make my design stand out because I haven’t seen an idea like this before.

Also the character Judge Dredd will be inbeded within the sketch but he will not be the main focus of my design, there will be some kind of link to his character.

Judge Dredd Day 1.

We have been given the task to create a Comic book cover, for the known comic character ‘Judge Dredd’.

First off I searched the character on google to find out what kind of hero he is; he’s known as the law. After I saved several images and used them as inspiration for my own designs.

Also I found silhouettes of other comic characters to create a female villan against Judge Dredd, since I have never seen a woman against him and I feel it will make my comic cover different.

Before and After.

I have since progressed from this stage in my work on 3DS. Starting off with simple shapes to create my design I drew first of all to get a plain idea of what my idea would look like. I didn’t want to go into detail since I have never used the programme before but also it just gave me a chance to view it with out worrying about how perferct I want it to look like.

ssssssssssssssssss

Now I have been able to go into more detail with my designs, making everything textured to how I imagined it. I have transformed my simple shapes into more realistic objects.

Inspiration.

When I first started to create my design I googled images of Urban Courtyards that already existed; then using some of the ideas I liked, I started to create my own design. I didn’t use all the images I collected since I developed my idea as I went along. Some of the designs I used involved centre pieces and planting in which followed around the edge of my design. These two images are what I based my deign on mainly, I used the idea of surrounding plants with fencing or boxing to keep it protected, but also I felt it would make my Courtyard a little more interesting and different.

Urban Courtyard Day 7. (textures)

To be able to add textures to my design, I Googled “3DS Textures” then I searched the type of texture I wanted and once I found something I liked; I then saved it to my folder. Once everything was saved I then was able to drag the image, from my desktop, to the highlighted object that I wanted to be textured. Then being able to drop the image on the object, it which then textured it. The textures add an extra something to the design to make your idea come to life. These textures here that I used are natural and simple, setting a simplistic and tranquil mood throughtout my Urban Courtyard.

Urban Courtyard Day 5.

I have now progressed even more from simple shapes. I am now able to create forms of nature, such as a tree, aswell as curving edges of boxed objects, like a bench or gate.

Here is another screenshot, I have developed from simple generic shapes with textured objects to make my design more realistic. I have improved a lot over the past couple weeks and I’m happy with how my work is turning out, also I feel that I can update and improve my design even more before the deadline.
